Tanya 1: The Shape of the Book - Over-the-Counter Medicine and a Gateway into Gan Eden

In this opening shiur of a new series on Tanya, Reb Joey introduces Sefer HaTanya as more than a book of ideas, but a living path, a spiritual medicine, and a portal into the presence of the Alter Rebbe.

Exploring Tanya’s movement between inner struggle and divine unity, Reb Joey shows how even in the midst of temptation, confusion, and spiritual effort, we are already connected, already held, and always able to begin again.

Tanya 2, Chapter 1: The Compiler's Introduction - A Face to Face Encounter Folded into a Book

Reb Joey begins the Alter Rebbe’s introduction to Tanya by exploring why the sefer is called a “collection of teachings” and how the arrangement of Torah itself can reveal something entirely new. From there, he enters the central question of the introduction: how can a fixed book speak personally to every individual, almost as if one were encountering the tzaddik face to face?

Episode 03 / 04

Tanya 3, Chapter 2: The Compiler's Introduction - Uncovering the Light of the Tzaddik within Ourselves

Continuing the Alter Rebbe’s introduction, Reb Joey explores the unique power of the writings of tzaddikim—not merely as sources of information, but as vessels carrying the light and presence of their authors. Tanya emerges as a deeply personal book of guidance, love, and healing, helping each person discover the tzaddik within themselves while navigating the work of growth and avodas Hashem.

Episode 04 / 04

Tanya 4, Chapter 1: Affirming the Inherent Goodness of the Soul Before Descending into Work of Fixing

Reb Joey continues opening the Tanya by reframing its demanding path of avodah within a deeper atmosphere of goodness, calmness, and Divine presence. Exploring the relationship between Chochmah and Binah, the tzaddik and the beinoni, he asks how we can affirm the irreducible goodness of the soul while still taking seriously the endless work of becoming.
